Healthy Holiday Snack

Yes, the word Doritos can actually go in the same sentence as the word “healthy.” The recipe I am about to share with you proves it!
This recipe is guaranteed to be a big hit at your next party.

These seasoned mixed nuts check off nearly all the boxes when it comes to popular eating plans (plant-based, vegan, paleo, Whole30, etc.) and they taste weirdly similar to the spice mix used to make Doritos.
It will take you just a few minutes to put these together.
When they’re cooled, simply place in a small Mason jar or other sealed container. They’ll keep for about a month.
Also: feel free to make this your own! You can include just one kind of nut (cashews and pecans are delicious!) or use mixed nuts. Adjust the seasoning to suit your taste. You really can’t go wrong!

Doritos Flavored Mixed Nuts (perfect for the holidays!)
(makes 30 ¼-cup servings)

5 cups (560g) raw mixed nuts

1 tbsp (4g) nutritional yeast

1 tsp (5g) garlic powder

1 tsp (1g) onion powder

1 tsp (2g) chili powder

1 tsp (2g) smoked paprika

1 tsp (1.5g) kosher sea salt

⅓ cup (78ml) olive oil

Preheat your oven to 325ºF (162ºC).

Place all the seasonings in a bowl. Pour in the oil, stirring well to combine.

Spread the nuts out in a large cast-iron pan or on a rimmed baking sheet. Drizzle the oil mixture over the nuts, tossing them so that are completely coated in the seasoning.

Roast in the oven for 20 minutes. Stir every 5 minutes to prevent burning. Remove from oven and allow to cool. Place in a mason jar or other sealed container.

I hope you and your gift-ees enjoy these!

Living a healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean depriving yourself – it simply means taking the time to feed yourself foods that taste good AND help you feel good! 🙂
